“Life Skills Mixed Martial Arts training was the best thing I ever did for my child. My seven year old son Michael’s martial arts experience transformed his young life. The martial arts instructors and staff helped develop my son’s motor skills, balance and coordination. More importantly my son developed the ability to follow instructions, be more disciplined and improved his behavior“.

Our Programs

Little Dragon’s Mixed Martial arts aims to provide children with the physical and intellectual strength that builds confidence and empowers them with the discipline, motivation, and ability to succeed in anything they set their minds to; at school, in sports, with friends, and in life.  Our program is structured around safety and technique while simultaneously maintaining an exciting and challenging physical experience.

The class teaches your child basic kickboxing, jiu-jitsu, karate, wrestling, boxing, judo, muay thai, and various offensive and defensive maneuvers. Skill oriented games keep the class fun and exciting for kids. Interwoven into the training is the development of self discipline and self confidence that leads children to success.

We specialize in teaching children to stand up for themselves and stay in control of their mind and body in the face of any situation.

Your child will get plenty of exercise and be entertained while having an enjoyable and educational experience training and interacting with their peers.  Higher confidence, increased pride, razor-sharp focus, improved judgment, and an appreciation for health and fitness are all the byproducts of mixed martial arts training.

By enrolling your child in this program, you’ll be helping your child prepare for the challenges they’ll face for the rest of their lives.

What And How We Teach

Our kid’s Mixed Martial Arts Classes consist of the best techniques from a variety of martial arts including Karate, Muay Thai Kickboxing, Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu, Boxing, MMA, Self-Defense, Grappling and more!  We provide our youth students with practical techniques that they can carry with them and use if nessecary through out the rest of their lives.  So, they learn the absolute most effective techniques, all while doing it in a safe environment and in a safe manner.

Obvioulsy, a child’s attention span is shorter than an adults which is why we disguise the reptition of technique through the use of “martial arts games” resulting in your child having a blast while learning!  Gone are the days of standing in front of a mirror and practicing boring forms from 3000 years ago like we did in the 80′s.  We have the most modern approach to teaching martial arts for kids and our instructors are certified and qualified to not only teach them technique, but in how to interact with agespecific groups of children and in how these children learn best.

Muay Thai

Muay Thai is the Thai name for a form of martial arts practiced in several southeast asian countries. It is the national sport of Thailand, and is also known as Thai Boxing or Art of the Eight Limbs.

Muay Thai has a long history in Thailand. Traditional Muay Thai, as it is practiced today, varies slightly from the original art and uses standing strikes in a ring with gloves similar to those used in Western boxing.  Muay Thai is referred to as “The Science of Eight Limbs”, as the hands (punching), shins (kicking), elbows, and knees are all used extensively in this art. A master practitioner of Muay Thai thus has the ability to execute strikes using eight “points of contact,” as opposed to “two points” (fists) in Western boxing and “four points” (fists, feet) in all other kickboxing styles. Muay Thai is an especially versatile and straightforward martial art.

Your children will be learning the basics of this Thai tradition through shadow boxing (forms in the air with no contact), striking pads, and heavy bags.  All of this will be done in a controlled environment giving your child the skills needed to protect themselves in competition or a self-defense situation.

Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu (BJJ)

Beginning with the first Ultimate Fighting Championships in 1993,

martial artists of all different styles, backgrounds, and weight classes were able to pit their skills against each other in the ring. It was a rude awakening for many. A horde of martial artists who considered themselves invincible were soon tapping out. These events finally answered the question being asked by martial artists for decades—Which martial arts work the best? The answer: Brazilian Jiu Jitsu.

Since then, the martial arts have evolved more in the last 10 years than they have in over 250 years prior to 1993. Jiu-Jitsu was originally developed in India , but wasn’t popular until it was brought to Japan in the late 17th century. It was an art of self-defense that included joint locks, throws, chokes, and other grappling manipulations used to force their opponent to submit. The greatest aspect of Jiu-Jitsu is that it relies on technique and leverage rather than strength, so smaller people can still defeat a larger person.

In the early 1900’s, many Japanese migrated to Rio De Janeiro. One of them taught his art to a Brazilian and his sons (the Gracie Family). The Brazilians were eager to learn to help them win their “No Holds Barred” matches which were popular in Rio . The Brazilian fighters found that Jiu-Jitsu gave them the technical abilities to win these matches.   Plus, the Gracie family was small in stature, making Jiu-Jitsu’s leverage  perfect for them.  As the years went on, the Brazilians began modifying the art and ridding it of any impractical techniques. The unbeatable art of Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu was born.

Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu (also known as Gracie Jiu-Jitsu) is especially efficient and works well for everyone, regardless of power or strength, making Jiu-Jitsu the ideal self-defense for smaller, older or less physical people.

It is a fact that 90% of all fights go to a “clinch” where two people are grabbing each other and that 80% end up on the ground either by accident or by design. Obviously, Jiu-Jitsu needs to be learned in order to defend yourself properly.

Carlos And Helio Gracie and their family founded, introduced and developed the art of Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu.   “Gracie Jiu-Jitsu” and “Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu” which can get confused as two different martial arts are actually the same.
